- Technology and online learning are rapidly changing.
- Internet connections will get increasingly faster for all people.
- Not all students will have unlimited bandwidth and this limits the size of materials that can be sent.
- Internet video conferencing will replace Interactive Television (ITV).
- Text-based, asynchronous conferencing will evolve into full multimedia conferencing.
- Education will be much less class-based, and much more topic-based (Downes 1998).
